Play Area Signs
Welcome to Sirocco Signs. We design and produce a range of signs for public spaces and can offer very tough, robust and easy to clean materials that are appropriate for play areas and parks. For more information please complete the enquiry form at the bottom of this page.
Play Areas have a legal obligation to provide current information about contact details in the event of problems and a telephone number and a sign is the ideal way to convey this information. The location of the nearest public telephone is also a requirement that a play area sign can address. Play area signs tend to be used for providing guidelines on the maximum or minimum age limits that are appropriate – on a sign a play area warden or council officer has a clear reference point when enforcing these regulations.
In addition to the legal requirements on a play area sign they provide a good opportunity for the site owner, usually a local authority to promote themselves in a positive light. Many play areas signs will include some mention to the authority involved and will often also refer to additional funding and grant bodies. Sadly many play areas tend to attract, especially at night, troublemakers and play area signs can be used to try and influence their behaviour. It is common for play area signs to include messages relating to No Dogs or No Drinking – we often find that designed in a humourous rather than formal manner can be effective.
Care should be taken over the choice of material and fixing structure for play area signs. Experience suggests that plastics such as polycarbonate and acrylic should be avoided but that Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) and aluminium can provide a very stable and durable base.
Most play area signs will be post mounted, usually on steel posts but they are often also mounted on metal railings.
