Welcome to Sirocco Signs.  We are a leading designer and supplier of signs and panels for parks, nature reserves and open spaces and these skills allow us to produce a range of metal finger posts for directional signs in both urban and rural environments.

Metal finger posts can be produced using either mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium. The mild steel option, as a finger post, will normally be galvanised and sprayed to an agreed colour.  In some environments the galvanised finger post will be left unpainted – this often happens if the fingerpost is to go in an area that is either subjected to regular flooding or when vandalism is a major concern.

Stainless steel fingerposts are often specified in urban settings such as city centres but we have produced finger-posts in stainless steel for rural environments on some occasions.  The usual finish for stainless steel finger posts is to use brushed stainless.  Aluminium is another popular material for finger posts although we recommend avoiding this material where vandalism is a concern.

Several materials can be used for the finger arm component of the metal finger post.  If vandalism and long term durability is a concern consideration should be given to using Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) for the finger arm.  GRP signs are highly versatile and offers great design flexibility when used for directional arms. The colour on GRP will last for many years so colour fading is not a concern.  

Stainless steel finger-posts work well with stainless steel directional finger arms.  Stainless finger arms can either be printed or produced as a chemically etched finish.  Both options offer a similar level of durability but more colour options are available with the printed finger arm.

Self adhesive vinyl letters can be used on finger arms in all materials but are most commonly found on aluminium finger-posts.  At Sirocco we have some concerns about the long term durability of self adhesive vinyl prints and letters – especially when used in exposed locations
